Nocturnal Animals, on the other hand, is more a subtle and a more refined revenge movie, filled with strong emotions around every corner. We see revenge movies with guns, bombs and the main character just straight up killing everyone. He leaves her feeling worthless, hopeless and sad.Revenge is a word that has become very violent. Nevertheless, Edward's act of revenge is still a brutal punishment, one that scars deep.

Compared to Edwards novel, the revenge in the "real world" may seem mediocre, because in the book the act revenge is something physical, ending in the deaths of those responsible for the deaths of Tony's family but also in his own.
